Course For First-Time Home Buyers Offered

Austin real estate agent and author Kenn Renner will discuss the benefits of first-time homeownership — and how to do it — this weekend during a seminar in the Splawn Ranch development community.
Home Buying Crash Course is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Splawn Ranch model home, south of Killeen. The event is sponsored by DR Horton, billed as "America's Builder," the builder of Splawn Ranch.
Historically-low interest rates combined with zero-down financing from the Veterans Affairs Department make it easier for military personnel to own a home, Renner said in a press release. The strong Texas economy and lower unemployment rates in the area make the North Central Texas region an "oasis in an otherwise dry and dreary housing market," according to the release.
"There may never be a better place or time to buy a home than right now in the Fort Hood area," Renner said. "What a great time to invest in the Great American Dream."
The seminar will cover the home buying process from start to finish, including "insider secrets" on credit, mortgages and builders, the release said. The course is based on Renner's most-recent book, First Time Home Buying Secrets Revealed, signed copies of which will be presented to attendees.
The seminar is free, but space is limited. For more information or to register, visit www.HomeBuyingCrashCourse.Com or call (512) 423-5626. Splawn Ranch is located 5.5 miles south of U.S. Highway 190 on State Highway 195.
